Eaton Probus wholeheartedly embraced the Probus Association of Western Australia (PAWA) initiative of a virtual walk between Albany and Geraldton, achieving the goal in six weeks with kilometres left over. As members accumulated virtual kilometres, they felt healthier, socialised more and explored local shorelines and wildflower parks. All 65 members contributed, either by walking together to meetings or joining one of the small walking groups established.
After reaching Geraldton, the group continued to the next closest Probus club, Streaky Bay in South Australia. The journey across the Nullarbor was enlivened by Streaky Bay members who joined the walk virtually. The group continued through South Australia and into Victoria before detouring into Tasmania. One member researches scenic sights along the way and shares them on the club’s contact page, with monthly updates in the newsletter. The walkers have now covered 5,860 kilometres. Watch out, Eastern States, they are on their way!
