Write around the Murray Festival

Held in the lovely regional city of Albury on the Murray River, Write Around the Murray (WAM) is a five-day festival of reading, writing and storytelling. Featuring dinners, poetry slams, workshops, author talks, performances, panel discussions, writing competitions and children’s events, there are endless activities to engage an active mind.

Lifeline Canberra Book fair

Australian Sand Sculpting Gallery

See sculptures made by some of the world’s best sand sculptors from Belgium, Holland, Canada, Ireland, Singapore, Russia, Poland and the Czech Republic. The theme is The Art of Music and the sculptures truly are incredible. It’s a great family day out so bring along the grandkids. They can even create their own sand sculptures. And to top it all off, there’s food, coffee, merchandise and wine tasting available.

OzAsia Festival

Australia’s premier international arts festival focusing on all things Asia, OzAsia features theatre, dance, music, film, talks and visual arts from Asia. There’s even a Lucky Dumpling Market to satisfy your belly, transporting you to the street markets of Asia. There are plenty of events for the whole family, including the Moon Lantern Festival, Australia’s largest lantern parade.

Cancer Council Tasmania Women’s 5km Walk/Run

It’s the ten-year anniversary of the Women’s 5km walk/run and it’s designed to support and encourage health awareness, raise vital funds for Cancer Council and bring the community together. Last year, the event attracted 1600 participants and 5000 spectators and it’s one of Tasmania’s largest women’s events. Throughout the day, health professionals will be available for any questions, and there’s yoga, a dance workout, live music and food and coffee for sale. If you don’t feel like completing the run, you can still head down to see the event and support the cause.

Live in the Square

It’s the Dry Season in the Top End and Live from the Square is celebrating the fact. Enjoy a whole range of different music types from local artists every second Sunday.
